Bugs Bunny 'Bugs Miranda' Cel by Clampett
This very special limited edition, framed, fine art animation cel features an image of Bugs that has become famous over the years. The year was 1942, Bob Clampett directed the hilarious Merrie Melodies cartoon, What's Cookin', Doc?, in which Bugs Bunny lobbies the Academy on his own behalf. The irrepressible Wabbit shows his talent by imitating Frankenstein, Edward G. Robinson and Bing Crosby (among others) and when told that James Cagney has won for best actor, Bugs demands a recount. Putting together a multi-media show, Bugs shows some films of his work, and then becomes a one-wabbit-band, with'Let Bugs Have It' and 'Give It To Bugs' printed on the drum. The crowd 'gives it' to him by pelting him with produce. From this pile of veggies arises Bugs Miranda. This cel began with a master inking (from the animation) which was then silk-screened onto an acetate sheet (or 'cel'). Each cel was then expertly hand-painted on the reverse side. The cel was then meticulously hand-airbrushed on the front in a palette of 11 corresponding colors in order to bring a special three-dimensional feel to the art. The hand-rendered background was reproduced using the lithography process. The cel was also screened with the Warner Bros. Animation Art seal. Finally, the limited edition number was hand-inked on each cel in an edition size of 500 with an additional 50 artist proofs. Upon completion of the edition, the master inking and original background were archived. This is a limited edition piece of artwork and as such is numbered and comes with a certificate of authenticity. The image is a 16 field, measures 16 inches by 16 inches, is double matted with an auburn top mat and gray and white bottom mat, and is presented in a high quality mahogany frame with plexi-glass, bringing the measurement of the framed piece to 22 inches by 22 inches.
